Temporary shelter solutions for the COA
In Enschede, at the former Twente airbase, the COA provided shelter for 500 refugees. The old hangars at the base were converted into sleeping quarters, but additional space was required for extra facilities. This is where Donselaar Industry stepped in.
Our contribution? The installation of 5 fully insulated tent halls, each with a specific function. The largest hall (20×50 meters) was set up as a pavilion where people can eat, drink, play table tennis, or watch TV together. Additionally, we delivered a tent hall that serves as a toilet and shower building.
A challenge that matters
In this project, the focus was not only on speed and efficiency, but also on comfort and privacy. Our advisory process played a key role in this. Together with the COA, we determined the most optimal layout and functionality for the halls. This meant thinking in terms of solutions: from insulation for heat retention to ensuring high-quality sanitary facilities.
